Borosilicate Glass Microbeads

Although, borosilicate glass is more popular in the kitchen, there are many places where borosilicate glass beads are used. The borosilicate glass beads pictured in this article were sieved out of ball milled recycled glass. Recycled glass is commonly used in concrete as a better-looking aggregate. Although glass care must be taken regarding the chemistry of the cement used, since highly alkaline cement will lead to detrimental effects on the durability of concrete made with borosilicate aggregates.

Borosilicate glass is renowned for its thermal stability. Thanks to its thermal properties and its chemically inert nature, borosilicate glass is the material of choice for laboratory beakers.
