Cladophora Aegagropila

Cladophora Aegagropila is fresh moss ball which in fact is a growth of algae. At high magnifications, it is possible to see the single line of algae structure of this moss. These algae have colonies in Japan, Iceland, Scotland, and Estonia.  Unfortunately, the populations of their colonies are in decline all around the world. This specimen was found in an aquarium tank.
